Continental Life Insurance Medigap Plans
Here is a brief overview of some of the Medigap plans available from Continental Life:
Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan A
Plan A is the supplement with the least coverage. Even still, it covers 100% of your hospital copays and coinsurance. It also provides an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up. It also pays for your share of blood and hospice. There is no coverage beyond what Medicare already pays for skilled nursing, Part A deductible, Part B deductible, and Part B excess charges. There is also no coverage for foreign travel emergency.
Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan B
Medigap Plan B covers everything that Plan A covers as well as your Part A hospital deductible. This is a relief if you have an inpatient stay. Medigap Plan A does not cover your cost-sharing for skilled nursing, Part B deductible, Part B excess charges or foreign travel emergency.
Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan F
Plan F is the most comprehensive Medicare supplement insurance plan available. It covers all of you coinsurance and copays for both Part A and Part B. It also covers your cost-sharing for blood, skilled nursing, excess charges and hospice. In addition, Plan F provides up to 50,000 of foreign travel emergency coverage.
Industry professionals call Medicare Supplement Plan F “first-dollar coverage”. We call it this because you literally will not pull out your wallet for any Part A or B covered services. This even includes very expensive items like surgeries and chemotherapy.
Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan G
Plan G offers most of the same coverage as Plan F so it is still a comprehensive coverage package. It is usually slightly cheaper than Plan F. The only difference between the two plans is that there is no coverage for the Part B deductible.
Continental Life Medicare Supplement Plan N:
Plan N offers a good amount of coverage for the price except for the Part B deductible and the Part B excess charges which you will pay on your own. There is no coverage under this plan for those items. In addition, people with Plan N will pay up to $20 per doctor visit and up to $50 for an emergency room visit. It does, however, include the foreign travel emergency benefits.
Continental Life Insurance Medicare Eligibility and Open Enrollment
You are eligible to buy a Medicare supplement plan after you reach age 65 and have applied for original Medicare Parts A and B. For the first 6 months after you begin Part B, there is an open enrollment period for any Medigap plan. After the open enrollment period ends, you no longer have guaranteed acceptance so the best time to buy is during the open enrollment period.
