CSI Medicare Supplement Plans Availability
Medicare supplemental insurance (also known as Medigap) coverage plans offered by CSI include Plans A,B,C,F,G and N, but offerings vary by state. Medigap plans are standardized so you just choose the one that fits your needs and budget. Claims paperwork is filed automatically for you by Medicare when you have a CSI Medicare Supplement.
No coverage is available to ID or VA residents. If you are under 65 and have Medicare due to a disability or end stage renal disease, you may not be eligible to buy a Medigap plan. We can check the laws in your state to determine eligibility.
CSI Medicare Supplement Plan F
This plan provides the broadest coverage. You have zero out-of-pocket because your CSI Medicare Supplement Plan F covers all of your deductibles and copays. Some of the items included in this coverage are your co-insurance and hospital costs for Part A, Part B, hospice care and skilled nursing care. CSI Plan F will also pay for the first 3 pints of blood if you need a transfusion. It also pays any Part B excess charges that you may incur and has foreign travel emergency benefits.
CSI Medicare Supplement Plan G
The only difference in Plan F and Plan G is that Plan G does not pay for the Part B deductible. Premiums for CSI Medicare supplement plan G are often lower than Plan F. It’s good to get quotes for both Plan F and Plan G so that you can compare. If the annual premium savings is more than what you will pay for the Part B deductible, then Plan G is a great choice.
CSI Medicare Supplement Plan N
Plan N generally offers lower premiums than Plans F or G.
A CSI Medicare Supplement Plan N Plan will pay your hospital deductible and copays. It also provides an additional 365 days of coverage in the hospital. For outpatient care, Plan N will cover the 20% coinsurance except for a small copay owed by you for doctor visits and emergency care.
You may pay up to a $20 co-pay for some office visits and the $50 co-pay requirement for emergency rooms visits that did not result from the in-patient admission process. You will also be responsible for the Part B deductible and any excess charges from non-participating providers.
Since you do more cost-sharing on this plan, it is less expensive than both plans F & G but still offers a good amount of coverage for the price.
CSI Medicare Supplement Eligibility and Open Enrollment
Anyone aged 65 or older who is receiving original Medicare benefits Part B is eligible to buy a Medicare supplement insurance policy. During the first 6 months after you turn age 65 and have enrolled in Medicare Part B, you can obtain a supplemental policy without being subject to medical underwriting.
This time period is known as open enrollment. What this means is that during the open enrollment period, CSI Medicare cannot deny you enrollment. They also cannot charge a higher premium due to any pre-existing medical conditions.
If you miss your 6-month open enrollment period, you are not guaranteed coverage in most states. You may have to undergo a medical examination to buy a Medicare supplement policy. Learn more about the rules in your state here.
Lastly, remember that Medicare supplements do not include drug coverage. You can find standalone Part D plan using Medicare’s website though.
