Want Medicare plan G reviews? Look no further. Our article on Medicare Plan F Reviews was such a popular post that we thought maybe it’s time to write one all about Medigap Plan G policies.
Medicare Plan G has become such a well-liked plan in recent years. In fact, it has become the new #1 most-requested policy at our agency. People are enrolling into in record numbers all across the nation.
Let’s dig in on how various insurance companies stack up on Plan G.
My Medicare Plan G Reviews for Insurance Companies:
- Aetna Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Banker’s Life Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Cigna Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Gerber Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Manhattan Life Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- Oxford Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- TransAmerica Medicare Supplement Plan G: A+
- ANY OTHER insurance company’s Medicare Plan G: A+
Because they are Medicare Supplements (and not Medicare Advantage plans, which have hidden costs), I pretty much give them all an A+ on coverage and benefits. Just like I do for Plan F.
Maybe you’ve been looking for a list of insurance companies offering Plan G – a list with 4 or 5 little gold stars next to each company in the traditional “review” style. The reason you aren’t finding it is simple: the benefits for Plan G are the same with any insurance company. In other words, there is no Plan G Medicare supplement policy out there that is going to pay any better or worse than the next company’s Plan G policy.
You see, Medicare standardized these policies and that means every Plan G will cover the same gaps in Medicare. In addition, Medicare tells them when and what to pay, so you never have to worry that a Medigap company will deny a bill. If Medicare pays its share, the Medigap will pay its share too.
So in my opinion, every Medigap Plan G out there scores an A+ on benefits because it will pay exactly as Medicare has ruled that it will pay. Our agency has many thousands of people enrolled in Plan G with absolutely no problems. Our Medigap Plan G Reviews are all good.
Plan G Reviews from Boomer Benefits Clients
I wanted to be able to buy my Plan G supplement without having to go to a broker in person.
I asked Jeff to enroll me in a Plan N Medigap but had second thoughts about it a month later and wanted to convert to a Plan G. Jeff introduced me to Lauren from the Client Services Desk and she took care of that for me without even having to fill out a new application!
Boomer Benefits gets my “seal of approval” and I’m very happy to be a member! Thank you all……..
How Do You Choose the Right Medicare Supplement?
I’ll give you some pointers. Keep in mind that these are general because different people have different risk tolerance. They also have different budgets.
On Financial Ratings: Go for A or B rated companies
You now know that your benefits are going to be the same no matter which company you choose. There are many different Medigap companies out there, and financial ratings from companies like A.M. Best can vary quite a bit.
Here’s my opinion:
We have so many competitively priced, reliable companies offering Medigap plans with A ratings. There is really no reason to settle for a company with an average or low rating. There are plenty of A and B-rated carriers that you can choose from first whose rates are phenomenal. So why settle?
On Rate Trend: Compare Carefully!
Plan G overall has had really low rate increases in the last several years across the board.
One of the reasons for this is that people who enroll in Plan G are going to pay their own Part B deductible. The deductible is less than $200, but the important point is that all Plan G clients have a little skin in the game. They are less likely to go to see a doctor for a sniffle when they themselves have to come up with the deductible.
The result of this is that the insurance companies often incur lower losses for their group of people on Plan G. Lower loss ratios are always good for you as well, because it usually means lower rate increases that next year.
Any good Medicare insurance broker should provide you a report that shows the rate increases for various insurance companies. If one company has a 3% rate increase for Plan G for the last two years, and another has a 10% rate increase history, you can take this information into account when choosing your carrier.
On Customer Service: Get that from Your Agent, NOT from the Insurance Company
All insurance companies have huge call centers where you can call in with customer service issues. This is really not a fun thing to do. Why would you want to call a huge insurance company call center and talk to a stranger who doesn’t know you or care about you… when you can purchase your insurance for the same price through an independent agent who will handle all that customer service for you?
Just as an example, look at the services we provide to our clients here at Boomer Benefits – why would you ever want to pass up on these totally FREE policy services?

Common Questions about Plan G Reviews
Almost! The only thing Plan G does not pay for is your annual Part B deductible. This amount varies from year to year but is $198 in 2020.
The reviews from our clients on Plan G are overwhelmingly positive. It is best to do your research upfront and determine if this is the right plan for you.
The reviews are pretty comparable. Because of the comprehensive coverage that both plans offer, the reviews from clients seem to be similar for both.
Sometimes people don’t realize that with Plan G, you must pay the Part B deductible before your plan starts picking up the bill and that can cause confusion for some people.
